Konferencja dotycząca Cypru we Wrocławiu

By | 20 czerwca 2010

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Republic of Cyprus, the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean and Oriental Studies of the University of Wroclaw is proud to announce the conference: Euodes, euktimene Kypros – The Cradle and the Crossroads of the Mediterranean.

Euodes, euktimene – the two Homeric epithets coming from the Hymn to Aphrodite prove that as early as the ancient times there was a fascination for the island’s natural and cultural values. All of the cultural trends and political developments in the Mediterranean are perfectly reflected and most splendidly represented in Cyprus. This conference aims at bringing together all topics related to the history and culture of the island from antiquity to the modern times. The subject will be addressed from a wide variety of perspectives, including ancient, medieval and modern history literary studies, linguistics, archaeology and history of art.
